When you need a dose of inspiration listen to one of these podcasts to stay motivated at work, in business, or life in general!
I’ve lately been on a podcast kick. It’s such an easy way to get motivation, advice, knowledge, or whatever you’re looking for at the moment!
But there is ocean’s worth of podcasts out there! Podcasts today range from episode’s about the host’s day to niche podcasts about investigating a specific criminal case like Serial. If you haven’t already listened to Serial, you should make that a priority! Warning: it is highly addictive.
I usually listen to a couple of podcast episodes a day, while walking, cooking, cleaning or blog related admin tasks! It is the illusion of multi-tasking that is alluring.
But with the ocean of podcasts, and thus millions of episodes at your disposal, what do you pick?
Well, just like picking books, I believe in the power of listening to podcasts, based on what you need in the moment.
If you’re looking for motivation, advice in work, business or life, this list of podcasts will help you stay motivated! It’s like having a mentor in your ear, when you need them!
Podcasts to help you stay motivated
Here are five of my favorite podcasts that speak to me when I need motivation. Many of these are related to work, or life in general. They talk about specific topics, give you specific advice about the situations you’re potentially going through!
I just need some motivation to move forward in my business
Goal Digger by Jenna Kutcher
Jenna Kutcher is a must follow especially if you’re in business, self-employed, or a creative who is trying to create a name for themselves!
She started in the corporate world after graduating, started and grew her wedding photography business. Now she’s in the business of teaching women how to build their businesses! She’s a self-proclaimed marketing and productivity nerd, and is phenomenal at branding herself, especially on Instagram.
Some of the episodes are interviews with guests (mostly female), who are killing it in their spaces. The rest of the episodes are workshop style , getting geeky about specific topics like building your email marketing list, or creating an online course!
If you’re looking to make a name for yourself in a creative space, I highly recommend the Goal Digger podcast! Also, the name Goal Digger alone should convince you of her marketing genius!
NOTABLE EPISODES
If you are struggling to get started, check out these episodes on How to Start and her advice on where she would invest $5,000 when starting a business!
Practical Wisdom for Life
On Purpose with Jay Shetty
On Purpose with Jay Shetty is an inspirational podcast relating to self-help and psychology, but with lots of practical bits of advice!
Jay Shetty has an impressive resume, working at Accenture, he trained as a Buddhist Monk, and worked at HuffPost with Arianna Huffington. Now he is making wisdom go viral with his brand (yes, that’s his tag line).
On his podcast episodes he offers practical advice in the context of ancient wisdom, that is also backed by science. He also does interviews with a variety of celebrities from different backgrounds, talking to them about issues deeper than their work.
NOTABLE EPISODE
To get started I would suggest Jay Shetty’s interview with Huda and Mona Kattan of Huda Beauty about being transparent and vulnerable, and 3 ways to take an Adult Gap Year. I wish I had heard this advice before starting my own journey!
A life coach in a podcast
Marie Forleo is a multi-passionate entrepreneur, who runs a digital company, and is the host of MarieTV. She runs a popular program called BSchool as well. She coaches people from all walks of life, from their business to personal lives. Marie Forleo herself bounced around in a lot of different careers, while she tried to find her true passion. And then she spent a lot of time building her coaching business.
The podcast episodes are audio versions of her YouTube videos called Marie TV. She tends to offer practical tips for people are looking to get started or pivoting in their businesses and lives! What is unique about her content is that there are exercises that you can do if you’re going through the same struggles!
NOTABLE EPISODE:
One of my favorite episode is actually a series of episodes at the end of 2019, called a Decade in Review. There are lots of journal prompts and exercises that would be useful anytime of the year!
